RIP Lani Waller F-61

The Brothers of Lambda Pi bid a fond farewell to

Lani Waller F-61.

1966 Sheriff Candidate "WildCat Waller" The Oilers

Brother Lani “Wally” Waller (F ‘62) sadly passed away on or about Monday, August 5, 2024, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where he made his home for the past several years.  He was married with no children.  He leaves a brother, Jack, who attended Chico State but was not a Lambda Pi.

Wally was the brothers’ choice for sheriff as “Wildcat Wally” in the ‘66 campaign. He didn’t win but should have. (My thoughts).

Wally was a world-renowned fly-fishing guide whose expertise took him to all corners of the planet to angle for trout, steelhead, salmon and any other under-water species that found voracious interest in hand tied flies. In addition, he authored and participated in writing several books on the subject of fly fishing.  “River of Dreams” chronicled much of his life and poignantly, the seaplane crash that nearly took his life and left him understandably not quite the same thereafter.  “River of Dreams” is available on Amazon and is chock full of funny stories in Lani’s life. You may find yourself, as I did, in one or more of them.

Lani leaves a widow, brother and a multitude of friends around the globe.  He will be sorely missed.
